"..though warm as summer it was fresh as spring." (Thomas Hardy) ("Far from the Madding crowd")

Pink petals slashed with a taint of hazel
Drifted through the wind as snowflakes,
As silent and vivid as the white sand at our feet;
And the grey leaves that thrashed at our feet.

Hand-in-hand, we stood defiant
In the gloomy depths of a frozen night;
Our sight looming vibrantly in the smile of the moon
And the lubricant charm of the falling stars.

Two pairs of feet chattered over ice-cold ground,
Teeth gleaming a burning white
Love heart lips curving in delight
As we reigned in the splendour of the light.

Hair swooping downwards like a curtain, like a                         caged dimension
We twirled inside the dark green leaves
And the pale swan birds tweeted their gift, their song;
A lover’s lark, a hungry being’s call.

The deep black night yawned and sighed for tonight,
And we joined it,
Swept into the trembling roads and the shuddering cars and   the old folk
And the magical rain as it sparked inside our dreamy haze.

Wooden doorknob stood as a catalyst, a greeting
Lion’s head raised up like a shed,
We turned it, inserted the rusted golden key,
Stumbled inside the haven in the dark.

One of us lit a flaming heap of flames
On the black rubble of the stricken fireplace;
As our velvet home enclosed in a cosy storm
of pleasure.

Two young creatures huddled together in the winter,
Curled inside the other as beautiful, furry cats,
Breathing in the mint of our tangled breath
And smirking as the chiming clock struck two,
Swathed in the blue and white pigeons on the covers;
Two flowers rising in the winter,
A pink and blue vision of
two lovers.
