I Am a Chord
I am a chord, plucked on steel strings,
A sum of its parts to make music sing.
Harmonious notes dancing through air,
I create something that once was not there.
With substitute notes, a chord can change,
From joy to sorrow with an alternate range.
The chords I choose are up to me,
A restless D minor, or comforting C.
Piece by piece I create a song,
Telling the story of moments long gone.
I am a chord, plucked on steel strings,
A sum of its parts to make music sing.
