Columbine
Blood spilled on the floor
Unseeing eyes opened wide
Screams filling the air
Gunshots fired that fateful day
Heaven's gates are open wide
Accepting those who have fallen
You took that flower
Crushed it beneath your feet
You didn’t see the person whose life you stole
In your hopelessness
Could you see nothing more?
Did you have no hope?
What made your heart so cold?
Searching the building
Trying to find another soul
How did you decide
Who would fall by your side?
Was it intentional?
Or was it just a black dot lottery?
Saw the destruction caused
The chaos created
Nothing can be done to change today’s deeds
Turning the weapon of destruction
Switching the enemy
The enemy is now inside of you
You cannot contain the monster inside any longer
You took yourself away
Years have gone by
Your story several years before my time
Thirteen crosses
Stand weathered and worn in the park
Boys what have you done
You were still children
There was time to change your life
