Hope?
her mouth is sealed shut
Her eyes glued together
She can’t speak a word
Not one that it mattered
She feels so submissive to their treatment
She’s left alone
This place is not her home
Except the occasional knock on the door she cannot answer
The drip
The beeps
The coughs
The sounds
That fill the disturbed silences around her
The nightly checks
She’s stuck their in that place
Not one familiar face
She’s lonely and on her own
She misses you darling
But she understands
Given the circumstances
And the missed chances
That you cannot make it there to see her all the time
She’s gonna learn to walk again and she’s gonna get better
With time
You need too promise me you’ll be okay
While she is there
While she’s away
Cold sterile needles
Beeping machines
Suggest she’s failing at her life long dreams
To become the mother you wanted her to be
She’s alone there
She’s without you
You’re without her
Cold floors
Elevator doors
Eyes sealed shut
She’s in this place where she cannot seem to put a smile on her frail pale face
I know you miss her with all your heart
What if you never hear that voice again
The one you woke to as a child
The one that repeats common phrases in your mind when life challenges hit you hard
The one that told you it’d be alright
And held you in her arms
When you came to her room
in the middle of the night
She kept you alive
But you cannot do the same
Without the pain
How do you live with out the gain
The sound of her breath has settled in your ears
You close you eyes
But it never disappears
You find yourself painted with crimson and blue hues
You find your eyes watering the plants on her bed side table
you know she’s gonna get better
Right
I know it hard to hold onto that idea
The idea she will soon be better again
Life has been divided into two separate parts
The one before and after the broken heart
She tore apart unwillingly
Unable to put whats been lost back together
The memories made stay forever
How she missed you little brothers 13th birthday
Or you first chance at love
She’s gonna be okay
Its gonna be alright
Will you truly be okay tonight?
