Tempest
She was never one to allow
Her sentiments to externalize
Yet she didn’t conceal
The bead of despondency
As it stained my sheets
A stoic soldier
Thawed by simple humanity
She was never one to allow
the tears to be wiped away
Yet she meekly grinned
As my thumb swept across her cheek
Pacifying the tempest
Raging in her mind
She was never one to allow
Arms to encircle
Her shivering frame
Yet she slackened in my embrace
A stoic soldier
Thawed by simple humanity
She was never one to allow
Her sentiments to externalize
Yet she placed a timid hand
Along the length of my jaw
And placed her shapely lips
Upon mine
Pacifying the tempest
Raging In my mind

This peice was inspired by my best friend. She's had a really rough past and doesn't talk about it much. When she finally opened up about it, i knew it took a lot of courage for her to share her truth with someone. I wrote this poem to document her struggles and how i was able to help her just by listening and being there for her.
