Rage Quit
I've been angrier than usual, these days
More bite than bark, more boil than simmer
But my rage is justifiable
I'm tired of my well-deserved fire being woven into a villain's weapon through word of mouth
Don't water down my fury into something more palatable
And don't tell me anger is a bad thing
Some negative character trait found in the dragons and demons of this fairy-tale world
Don't tell me the princess never got pissed
Don't tell me the knight never fell into fury
I know the feeling
Scent is the sense most closely related to memory; is that why I'm always smelling smoke?
It's funny
If someone is angry and can wield a sword, they are a hero
If someone is angry and cannot, she is an evil sorceress
I don't remember being drawn in this picture book
I don't remember who gave me these horns, who gave me this fire and called me a witch
But I'm done assigning myself to your simplicity
So rip out the pages and light a match
Just don't choke on all the burning
