Show Biz
I was entrusted
And granted with the opportunity
I was ready
I was confident
I was… replaced
A favor
The paying of an IOU
A shift in roles
The assistant kicked aside for the graduate
I was prepared
I was trained
She, doesn’t know what she wants to do with her life
You’re friends with her father
You’re friends with her
You believe in her
But apparently not in me
I thought I proved myself
I thought you knew I could do it
You rejected me
And gave her a shot
But I’m the only qualified candidate
But nepotism comes before qualification
That’s just how it works in the biz

I wrote this about being replaced in a job that was specifically left to me. Just a petty little poem.
