Jailbird

We are all given a sentence

Four years at our local high school

Even though no crime has been committed

We have still been convicted

There are different cells and each one offers a new kind of hell

Graded on how well accept what we are told

Our every move controlled by a bell on the wall

We are all trapped inside this bricked stronghold

Every day we are released at three

Only to come back the next morning

We sing the jailhouse blues as we enter the school

All of us stuck in this taxing never ending loop

At the end of our sentence, we are free

But the shadows of those shackles never leave

Most of us are off to get our degree

A goal that they groomed for us to achieve
