Love
All my life, I have pushed people away
Refused to let them through the dark thick layer I’ve formed
Protecting my heart
Protecting myself from pain and hurt.
Then you showed up
You made me laugh
You made me cry
You showed me what I’ve been missing my whole life
You weren’t the one who brought my guard down
You showed me that pushing people away
Hurts more than living life at its fullest
You showed me that pain is worth it
For the memories we’ve created.
That’s when I knew
What love felt like.
