Baby Boy
mama, thank you
for taking care of me.
i know it was difficult,
but I needed help.
my legs had forgotten how to work,
and i needed a drink of water.
mama?
are you crying?
i’m sorry mama.
i didn’t want to go,
but i couldn’t move.
thank you for being here.
it was hard for the both of us.
my time is up, mama.
i’m sorry for leaving,
but i can’t wait for new legs.
don’t worry mama,
i’ll be watching from up above.
don’t be sad, mama.
i’m okay, i just miss you.
but don’t forget that i’ll
forever be your baby boy.

This poem was written from the perspective of my hedgehog that had passed away recently. He had wobbly hedgehog syndrome, which is paralysis that becomes fatal. He couldn't move on his own, so I had to help him. This is for you my spikey baby boy, rest in peace Romeo.
