Friendships
In my youth,
I wanted a friend.
And I begged the universe
To gift me with one person
Who I could turn to.
I could just imagine
The person I’d meet.
They would be there…
Someday…
I just knew it.
Perhaps she’d have
Beautiful blue eyes.
(That pierce my heart)
A head of striking blonde,
(Drifting gently in the wind…
Like we drifted apart)
And a preppy personality.
(That faded with time)
Perhaps he’d have
Pearly white teeth,
(With a poisonous smile)
Hair cut close to his head,
(Just barely shorter than
The time were friends)
And a cunning mind.
(That used me)
Perhaps they’d have
Vibrant blue locks,
(That drew my attention)
A slender figure,
(Slim as any
Chance of friendship)
And a hopeful spirit
(With no hope for me)
I must’ve walked (away from) by her
I must’ve missed (been fooled by) him
I must’ve forgotten (disappointed) them.
Still I can't help but hope with all my heart.
That person will stand by me… someday.
