Moment of Peace
Just west of the beaches of Wildwood
I stroll up to the bay of Cape May
My flip flops are now in my hand
As I begin gliding my feet in the smooth, soft sand
The sound of the small waves crash softly get closer and closer
I can now see the sights of the wavy ripples dancing in the water
My cousin and I shake out our beach towel and lay it across the grains of sand beneath us
I lower myself down and prepare for the beautiful painting in the sky
The suns begins to kiss the horizon, a mother putting their child to bed
The sky is now dreaming
Purples, pinks, oranges, yellow, and blues fill the sky
I look to my cousin to see her blue eyes lighting up as she stares out towards the water
As each minute goes by, a new mural is created
The sky is filled with melting candy, and I’m the little kid with a sweet tooth
The palette reflects onto the body of water, all different colors glistening on the white caps
All that mattered was the beauty of nature and the power of this sky
Surrounded by no hate, just love
In this moment, I could float away and lay in between the hues of the sky
And be coddled, like if the sun was my mother too
