Am I?
The sounds, the sounds of their laughter
The smiles, the smiles they give as one speaks
Am I missing out, am I even thought of, am I isolating myself
The way they get along, the way they speak to one another
When I see them pass by, when I hear them ask why, when I feel them slip
Am I the cause, am I to blame, am I the one that they should shame
The sounds, the sounds of their whispers
The smiles, the smiles so phony as I'm looked upon
Am I a part of this, am I belonging, am I doing enough

Being Adopted is hard, especially when you've done so many unforgettable things to those you live with. I wish I could go back sometimes and change my ways, my patterns, of my behavior. Nothing can change you except for yourself. So over time and the gossip, I will change the way they see me, and I will try to change the way they feel about me. It's really hard not feeling a part of a family sometimes, even when you try to put yourself in it. Or there may be times when you just want to be alone. It's all understandable. You will get to where you want to be one day.
