Save Your Skin
Your worth, she told me, is in that which you save.
Save your skin; certain things increase in value over time.
Wait, and a good man will be your reward.
But I had spent what skin I had,
On a boy I had known not six months, when I had not yet reached the age of sixteen.
It was not rich, it was not cheap.
I shivered.
The realization came like the first snow, when I realized my value had not changed.
The beautiful, natural acts
My snow has not lost its luster, I still glow
Why do so many suppress the liberation felt when giving into our biologically driven bodies?
The only investment made is not when we love someone, but how we experience it,
And how we grow
