Through the velvety curtain of fog,

Ebony black hair, rustling in the wind

Rosey red hues,

Splattered across a canvas of beige fabric

A stream of sunlight, creates a show of reflective lights,

To bounce across the surface of the rippling waters

White petals drift down to the ground,

Feathers of blue and green float across the sky

Lacey white ruffles

Tickle the long blades of grass

Laughter erupts in the distance

A display of periwinkle lights rise from the greenery

The Earth’s thirst is quenched by a

Layer of dewdrops

The scent of honeysuckle and freshly cut grass

Wafts through the light atmosphere

An aura of frivolous energy is shared between the

Honey colored creatures hopping across the terrain.

Bubbles of periwinkle lights skitter across the expanse

Pebbles dabble across the shoreline

Perfectly-round pearls clank against each other,

Slender fingers brush against the

Ever-ending sea of white calico

Tangerine and scarlet bubble up to the surface

The whole of it all seems like a beautiful dream

The sunlight hazes her eyesight

Crystal-like drops trickle down the side of her cheek

The wonderful silence is broken,

The bubbling surface of the water breaks

A single pearl balances on the veneer

The fall is near

Out of the crimson water, sprouts a single white blossom,

Gusts of silvery wind blow it across the dancing stream

Hopes to find a new rise

This piece is an interpretive and symbolic commentary on American neocolonialism in South Korea. It also touches upon the impact that this neocolonialism had on the journey towards deitemizing women, gender roles, and history during after the First-Sino Japanese War.
