Scars
Caress the scars,
Caress the physical embodiment of my aching agony and,
Drink in the outlet of my unbearable anguish
Startled by the subtle screaming of my inexorable madness
Attend to the cyclical whispers ransacking my sanity
Caress the scars,
Caress the metaphorical embodiment of my failures and,
Embrace the bruises of my breakdowns
Startled by the outcry of my wrath
Attend to the voice pestering me to give up
Love the scars,
Love the unhealed pieces of myself and,
Nurture the beacon of hope cultivated within me
Startled by the sound of encompassing darkness crumbling
Attend to the voice of your inner strength fueling up your heart
Finally,
Embrace the scars and,
Reach for the stars by the end of the tunnel

I wrote this for my sophomore English assignment and I wanted to choose the topic that accentuates my personality and what I have learned in 2020, the year of the pandemic. Surprisingly, it took me only around 30 minutes to write scraps, cut, add, and finish this piece. My emotions flowed unbridledly while writing this poem. I hope everyone who is going through a hard time right now could feel a sense of peace when reading this.
