Not Love at First Sight
Do not imagine yourself with me
That is dangerous
Because whatever you are thinking is not what you will get
I am not what you see at first sight
In fact,
I am not what you see with weeks of knowing me.
It takes months if not years to know me
Because with me,
Comes all of my baggage
With me comes explanation after explanation of why I act the way I do
With me comes my past and every burden that follows.
When you get me,
You get all of my confused emotions
And random bursts of sadness that cannot be explained
With me comes
Things you didn’t think were a part of me
Things rooted deeper than anything you can dig up.
I am a mess dressed up in pretty packaging and a nice bow
I am deceiving.
So please,
I beg you,
Read the warning before you open me.
