The World As I See It
The world as I see it
It is all hi’s and goodbye’s
Good mornings and good nights
The perfects and un-perfects
The beautiful and non-beautiful
The love and the hate
The torture and the pain
The rapes at the gates
They cry and they whine
The “no’s!” and the “stops!”
The world as I see it
The slits on her wrist
The suicide letters by day
Breakdowns by night
The girl in her closet hung by a belt
I lost myself somewhere
No one seems to care
No one notices
I best be better gone

I wrote this piece because it shows my view of the world. It shows the struggles that adults but mainly teenagers deal with like sexual assault, depression, and suicide. I myself have dealt with depression and even the thought of suicide and the poem shows that in this society no one really cares or seems to notice when something is wrong with someone. No one bothers to ask what is wrong or willing to genuinely listen. So I wrote this poem to show that if you have experienced any of these things, you are not alone and several other people have gone through it too.
