The Price of Convenience
A political wasteland,
injustices justified,
future impending
in which children cry
and the homeless die
and the scholars all sigh,
quietly saying, “I told you so,”
as the wage gap grows
and yesterday goes
violently into our memories.
Justifications of who we are
rub against who we used to be
and we lose ourselves, resigned.
In our quest for a convenient utopia
we worked together tirelessly,
creating from those dreams this dystopia.
