Wishes
Sometimes you don't draw what you see,
because it looks better another way,
or the way you wish it would be.
Sometimes you don't say what you think,
because that's not what they want to hear,
or it's not something you want them to know.
Sometimes I don't write
whatever it is that I write,
because it's the last thing I want to think about,
the last thing I want to understand,
the last thing I want to remember.
But then it gets all jumbled up inside
with nowhere to go
getting so full
it starts to overflow
and all you can do is watch,
watch and long for it was
the way you wish it would be.
