Nestled Between The Mountains
Driving on a windy road high near Breckenridge in the mountains there is a lake below.
Nestled by the surrounding trees and mountains.
The bright summer sunlight overhead beams directly onto the lake.
Reflecting onto the blue water as if diamonds were dumped in.
As we hike closer the air begins to feel crisp and thin.
I feel the cool breeze sway the surrounding trees.
Sailboats are speckled across the surface of the lake.
As if they are monarch butterflies aimlessly flapping their wings in the sky.
A small bumble bee buzzes through the field.
Unbothered, occasionally stopping at wildflowers.
Everything was still as if the world wasn't spinning.
The breeze had stopped, and the trees went still.
The bumble bee disappeared into the grass.
Sailboats seemed to stop sailing in the diamond lake.
The clouds once moving in the sky slowed.
Beginning to blend in with the snow-capped mountains.
I stood within the silence taking in my surroundings.
The calm green, blue, and white, soothed me.
Moments later a bird flew overhead restarting the world.
My mom and I glanced at each other in awe.
As we turned to walk the bumble bee passed us again.
I bent down to get a closer look at the unbothered bug.
We drove down the winding road again.
In the middle of summer, surrounded by the wonders of nature.
