ADHD
i am scattered across time and space.
every day,
I must summon my strength and energy
to pull the particles of me from all corners of the universe back
into
my body so I can form coherent thoughts, go to school, and function. i devote my energy to keeping the particles just barely fused together, making sure they don't give in to the irresistible current pulling them
in a million
different
directions out of my body.
my natural state is
scattered
across
the
cosmos.
i am not quite in my body, but not quite out of it. i'm in a state between awareness and unconsciousness. i am in a million different places.
my thoughts dissolve in the wind like a fine powder.
my body is here, but i am
everywhere
and nowhere
all at once.
I have ADHD. It's nice to meet you.
I wanted to make a poem about what ADHD feels like for me. I don't write poetry often, so this might not be the best.
