Running
I run and run from what follows me,
I fall and hit the floor,
The noise gets louder, closer evermore,
I rise and run some more,
I run until I cannot run,
So run I constantly try,
The noise, the presence, the unknown feeling,
It whispers a luring lie,
"Come with me, it's your destiny,
Why do you run and cry?
Why fear me so, when you never know,
How it is you'll die?
Could it be exhaustion from all this running,
At the end of your adrenaline high?
Could it be me?
Oh, you'd never see,
If your life were to end so nigh."
It sounded like a villain's cunning,
Yet I listened to it's haunts,
For I can run and know only running,
Or find out what it wants.
