Words that bite MAG
I am a person of endless words.
Yet the most important go unspoken.
In my library of soft phrases,
My garden of carefully chosen sentences,
And my hoard of sayings and facts.
4 words go unspoken.
They hang like ripe fruit on the tip of my tongue.
Always ready to say. And always true.
I try so hard to keep them from slipping out.
They bite so ferociously at the corners of my mouth.
They know they need to be said.
“I want to sob”
I deny them their place in my trove of words.
Lock them in their cage
And throw away the key.
I yearn to let them fall from my mouth
As I lay in your arms.
“I need to sob”
And I yearn for you to tell me it's safe
And say
“Then sob. And I will be here.”.

This piece I wrote during a dark time. These words do hang on my tongue, just like the poem. I think they (or words like them) are with everyone. And we need to let them free. For our sakes and for theirs. Words that bite is a poem about the importance of sharing our feelings. Bottled up emotions will lead to more harm than good. So go tell them that you love them, or tell them that you need help. Tell your friends you care, tell the person who hurts you that you can't keep going on. Tell them. Don't like the words that bite stay biting.
