now is not the time
that last summer night i saw you
a star fell from the sky
i ripped up my heart
gave you a half
traded for a half of yours
fitting perfectly with each other
our heartstrings tangled together
knotting too tight to undo
it feels too surreal to explain
you ran to the woods
and i swam to the beach
strings are not long enough for this
the sun held you captive
only you can end the war
your half aches to be reunited
the blood still stains my chest
groping for that beautiful mess
but getting poisoned instead
can we please go back to sleep
we woke up before the alarm rang

Amia Taylen Evans (any pronouns) is the pen name of an amateur writer, musician, and actor from southern California. Specializing in fanfiction, their writings range from crappy poetry, essays on literature, speeches for Academic Decathlon, high school play reviews, and a novel they started in 2021 which has had barely any progress. More of their works can be found on their Wattpad (@urlocalvocaloidstan) and the bookmarks of their AO3 (@reads_too_much_angst).
