That Summer
We wore tank tops in the summer heat
Lost in wistful reveries
The stars that lingered in our dreams
Cool nights walking on the beach
We’d talk of what we hoped to be
Forever friends and hopeless teens
We did many things we did regret
But few I think that we’ll ever forget
That summer went, that summer passed
A reminder that life never lasts
Because every night we prayed for rain
And when our rainfall finally came
Our friendship no longer remained
