final goodbyes aren't always known
that one night
with the street lamp
pouring its light onto us
you gave me a goodbye kiss
i said i wouldn't cry
but only because
there weren't any tears left
you said it would only be a little while
little did we know
it would be forever
i lookd back as i walked away
seeing you made me want to be strong
how could i know
you would be the cause of my broken heart
that it wouldn't be long
until we would separate for good
not just in the physical
but our emotions too would lose each other
to each other we'd be dead
that one night as we walked the streets together
hand in hand
how was i to know
that would be the last touch
or the last gaze
or the last time i'd ever be with you again
our last kiss
was full of sorrow
it didn't linger
it seemed to just know
that soon we wouldn't be together
that there would be no meaning left to what we had done
