Release your grasp on me
Let me spring from the grave I've buried my heart within
Let the sound of the rain bring fresh tears again
Let me not forget; but on let me live
Teach me how to love and how to forgive
To be as a bird, and free I will fly
A bird who believes not any told lie
Hold tight to my past, with eyes that look beyond
To a place with no more hurt, where one can grow fond

You know the darkness that I hide
The feelings that my heart abides
Hiding just beneath this pallid skin
Free this wretched heart within
I know you say you don't approve
That I must go alone to find you
The place we once had known so well
Memories, oh, the stories it could tell

But now my heart is grievous because you cannot love me
My feelings still you can't accept
Let us put this dream to rest
Perhaps you never will
