Jaw Slack, Hope
Jaw slack with surprise
And heart pounding in my head
You cut into my last barrier:
A wavering hope
And break it with all the force
Of those blades you draw across your wrists
But this pain provides no relief
Only suffocating grief
And wracking sobs
That shake my frame
Like my choice shook your world
Flipped under and over
Behind your broken back
Beneath your hateful hands
So your secret
Of blood and shadows
Lies in the light
where you cringe and cry
But my hope is high
For the resurrection
And a clearer time
