Mermaid Believer MAG
She says she believes in mermaids.
She's seen them lying on sun-baked rocks.
They pay the dolphins for a ride,
With their currency of sand dollars.
She says she went snorkeling,
And pulled on some seaweed.
But really, it was a mermaid,
Lying at the bottom,
Her hair swaying with the current.
She said she believed in love.
But now her heart is broken,
Chained and locked away.
Her hollow kisses have turned to dust,
Her abandoned heart is stripped away
And discarded on the floor.
She says she wants to believe in magic.
She wants feathered wings to take her dreams,
And carry her far away.
She wants her piercing blue eyes
To penetrate those who try to make contact with them.
Watery black spiders creep thickly down her cheeks,
Drying the paint, and staining her skin.
