A sharp gasp
Silent, but stinging

Shoulders tense
Knuckles gripping

Don't look
Just keep going

My foot trembles
The pedal, undsteady

I prayed
But it didn't work

Somehow it managed
To find me

The smoke, the light
The heat, the sounds

I refuse to go back
To the back corner of my mind

Where I have hidden
That terrible night
