Girl in the Mirror
Girl in the mirror, who are you?
I need to know.
Who are you, who am I?
Girl in the mirror, you say we are one.
But how can that be?
I do not wear a smile like you do.
I am not confident like you are.
I don’t know who I am, but I know
that I’m not you.
Girl in the mirror, you insist it is the truth.
Fine; I’ll play your game.
Tell me then, who is your birthmother?
What is she like?
Girl in the mirror, you say you do not know.
You say that you know her name,
but you don’t know who she is.
You say she gave you away, when you were
only a baby.
You say you were adopted.
Girl in the mirror, that’s kind of funny.
A coincidence, I’m sure.
I am adopted too, and I do not know
my birthmother either.
Tell me then -so we can get this straight-
what is your biggest fear?
Girl in the mirror, another coincidence.
I’m scared of that, too.
I’m scared of being forgotten,
and I’m scared that I’m not good enough.
Girl in the mirror, that does not prove anything,
other than that we share similar feelings.
Tell me then, do you want to meet her?
Your birthmother?
Girl in the mirror, you say you’re not sure.
You say you are curious, but you’re afraid
of rejection.
You say you’re angry at her, too.
You say she should have been more responsible.
You say you can never forgive her.
Girl in the mirror, this is creepy.
It’s like you can read my mind.
Are there any psychic powers you forgot
to inform me of?
We can’t possibly be so alike.
There’s only one way…
But no, it can’t be.
It’s impossible.
Girl in the mirror, why are you crying?
It’ll be alright.
Aren’t you happy?
I finally found myself.
