Take one for the team.
The thrill of the game,
too strong to explain.
The ump yells "Strike one!"
I won't be outdone.
"Strike two!"
One more strike and I knew.
No longer for fun,
this game must be won.
I pick up my bat,
and readjust my hat.
I kick my foot in the dirt,
tomorrow this'll hurt.
She winds up her arm,
of course meaning no harm.
She releases the ball,
a hit to the leg, and I fall.
"Batter's hit, take your base!'
I limp to first, with a smile on my face.
Running from third with great pride,
she crosses home with a slide.
That’s it! That’s the game!
The whole crowd chants my name!
This feeling is glorious,
to come out victorious.
