When Lightning Hits the Sky
A streak across the sky
Blinding, blinding, in the darkness
Upon the windblown trees
There I wait, in the freezing degrees
Waiting for what?
I know not
I wait for the strike
When the lightning will break the sky
Torrents of wind and rain surround
Squeezing me tightly
Thunder shakes the ground beneath me
As I wait
I glance at my watch
It is almost time
The electric field is ready
Waiting, waiting, waiting…
The breeze picks up
The clouds are charged
The time has come
The world around my flashes
I turn and walk home
I have seen for what I have waiting
For the lightning has knocked down the sky
