The Best Mistake To Happen
A baby lies there peacefully
asleep and unperturbed
so innocent in this world
As her mother struggles painstakingly
Watching her little girl.
Will she ever tell her child
she was the result of plain stupidity,
just like her little brother,
due anytime now
or that she once considered giving her away
because she thought that it would help somehow
perhaps it would have but we'll never know
because she kept her
even after the father had left her
to raise the child all alone.
Though in truth she is still young
much too young for her position
she remains strong and keeps holding on
even with another on the way.
She hopes she'll find all she needs one day.
But as for now she struggles
just to live on the little that she has
and to be a mother to her daughter
and the son she’s soon to have.
She knows she was stupid,
but what's done is done
she has a baby to take care of
and is almost at the end
of another 9 months.
She must prepare herself
for many sleepless nights,
when both her babies cry
and she cannot ease their minds.
In the future she is sure
to love her children dearly
but will not forget the times
she believed them both
the biggest mistakes of her life.
Mistakes they may have been
but surely not regrets,
for those children of hers,
will be her entire world.
