Where I'm From Poem
I am from the court,
From Nike, And One, and Spalding.
I am from the faded pavement (Covered in oil stains and tire streaks)
I am from sweat, the burning as it enters my eyes.
I am from love and determination,
From Jeff and Katie.
I am from making the best of what I was born with
And family comes before friends.
From laziness gets you nowhere and
Practice makes perfect.
I am from God,
From a man who made no sin.
I’m from Jeff and Katie’s first place,
Caesar salad and twice baked potatoes with the family.
From my Grandfather, a WW2 veteran,
Who parachuted into battle so I could be free.
I am from the court,
Mom and Dad in the stands.
From that last second shot,
The future lying in God’s hands.
