The drumming of your heart as it comes closer
Wanting to see but the unwillingness of truth
You’re eyes are blood shot, you stifle a yawn
Gasps of surprise and breathes sucked in….

You tap your feet in restlessness
Biting your nails from worry
Trying to take calming breathes
In the middle of all hysteria!

Girl to your left crying
Nerds in the back nervous
As Doom walks closer
Students’ lives in front of you stop.

You say you’re final prayer
Wishing your slave driver would give you a sign
Just a gleam in his eye
Or a slight upturn of the lips!
That’s all!

All of this life shortening worry
For just a number on a test!

The author's comments:
This might be a little bit confusing but this poem is about what teenagers have to go through when they get every test or quiz grade back. School puts so much pressure on perfect grades that just makes it so much harder for us students.
