Writer's Digression MAG
I was going to write a novel
I made cookies instead
Cookies have very simple plots
I start out by introducing
the primary characters –
butter, sugar, vanilla –
to the setting.
Then I add conflict with salt,
thicken it up with flour,
add drama with baking powder.
Just before things start to heat up,
I throw in some chocolate chips
to complicate things
for my main characters.
Then comes a heated climax,
as hot as an oven.
After things cool down a bit
and settle into place,
that's when I take a bite
of the ooey-gooey resolution.
