Youth of America
With broken soul and a shattered self
We rise from ashes with little help
The media screaming, “Blame our youth”
The ones who raised us hold the truth
It’s a sin and crime to point and stare
Our influences seem to never care
With opinions formed, I can stand my ground
My voice is raised, my voice is found
Stop your cruel words we will claim our stakes
So teach us and guide us with your mistakes
Instead of brainwashing us to one “rightful” path
Let our creativity spin and never hold us back
Believe it or not, I believe in my generation
For a second in time, we are the youth of the nation
History is a book we have studied and learned
As you take our lessons and watch them burn
I feel looked down upon in a nation “discrimination free”
Be people of your word and stop smothering me
Mistakes will be made, lessons have been taught
Trust the nation we are, and the people we are not
Future is bright so stop pointing the blame
I have enough troubles to face to win this game
“Life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness” is near
For the troubles I have faced throughout the years
Children are dying and poverty has struck
We are easy targets to blame for your lack of luck
We all have a voice? Can you hear me scream?
Let me have a say in our nation’s dream
Stand back Mr. President, the media, the fans
My family and friends, I must make a stand
Against my own will of freedom and belief
I am tired of the silence now time to speak
With my facts and figures, I know where we are
A place full of tragedy is not too far
So ladies and gentlemen, I am just a girl
Who believes her words can change this world
So stand up America, here is the truth
I am power, I am peace, and I am youth
