Around here, however, we don't look backwards for very long.
We keep moving forward, opening up new doors and doing new things, because we're curious.....And curiosity keeps leading us down new paths.
-Walt Disney

Another dreary day of testing.
I watch the clock on the TV.
41-42-43.
Tick, tock, tick.

I brush my hair back and yawn.
Hearing a student's snores.
In, out, in.
Tick, tock, tick.

I study my blank notebook page.
Having nothing more to say.
Scritch, scratch, scritch.
Tick, tock, tick.

Oh when will this be over?
Don't they see that we are finished?
Click tap tap.
Tick, tock, tick.

I check the clock again.
Ten more minutes.
Tick, tock, tick.
Tick-tock tick-tock tick.

The author's comments:
This was obviously written about the boredom of exams. I really had nothing else to write during the testing, so I decided to write about exactly what I was doing: brushing my hair back, listening to some kid snoring, staring at the clock. You know, just normal teenage stuff. This poem is very boring and frustrating because it's about a boring and frustrating topic, so I apologize if you fall asleep while reading it. The last line was a little difficult because I wanted to represent the rhythm of that line as being like eighth notes. If you don't know what I mean, just think of each tick or tock of the last line as being thought or said twice as fast as the slow ticks and tocks of the past lines... I guess that's it.
