If Only I Could Tell You
If only I could tell you,
The secret that lies behind,
Of which you have no clue,
One I try hard to hide.
If only I could say,
Things I want to share,
That I see you night and day,
Even when you’re not there.
You didn’t know the plot,
That we were meant to be,
You found the key to my heart,
You came to set me free.
But my joy is overcome,
By an empty feeling within,
For I know, whilst I love that someone,
It’s a love I cannot win.
I long for you to love me,
The way that I love you,
My love for you is free,
I wish that yours was too.
I feel betrayed by my heart,
For not listening to my head,
For feelings that should never start,
But deciding to love you instead.
If only I could share,
The loneliness inside,
I stand all alone there,
Without you by my side.
If only I could tell you,
I’m scared of what could be,
Because what I say is true,
Because I know, you don’t love me.
If only I could tell you.
