The Show Must Go On
The curtains open
Unveiling her lie
Showing her secret
As she tries not to cry
She managed for months
To stay in her role
It was the one thing she liked
The one thing with which she held control
But tonight the audience
Saw right past her mask
And this was one rare time
Where she didn’t want to bask
Thinking quickly from fear
She tried to think of a lie
For why when they curtains opened
She stood with a tear in her eye
If only I had been cautious
And careful, she screamed in her head
To keep my truth to myself
And off of my face where it’s so easily read
But composing herself
To look as innocent as a fawn
She continued the lie
The show must go on
