Transformation
i walked into the store
looking about curiously,
like every other customer
when something caught my eye
i gasped
out of nowhere,
my heart evolved
it was no longer there
a butterfly had replaced it
fluttering about wildly as if in
a trapped cage
my body went numb
my mind went blank
i was aware of the weight of
my body
my clothes
my arms
each flap of a wing,
was my own heartbeat
i had to take small, short breaths
i just couldn't breathe right,
i didn't know how
a signal went off
he looked up,
our eyes met
staring into those deep
hazel-green eyes,
my butterfly transformed,
it was no longer there
instead,
a rollercoaster
zooming through organs
crashing against my inner skin
trying to find a way out,
had replaced it
i wasn't in control of anything,
when our eyes met
but at the same moment,
i was
i didn't know what he thought
of me
but i knew the rollercoaster was
spinning, zipping, flying
through him
as it was doing to me
he was watching,
i was nervous
he was curious,
i was in love
