ready wings
if i had the chance to fly,
and leave this world behind;
i'd not think to leave the ground,
your eyes caught in my mind.
eyes like snow that's fallen soft,
not white, but shadowed blue;
eyes that catch the light so well,
though darkness once they knew.
your eyes, the gate, and i am locked,
held without a chain,
your eyes my sunshine and my joy,
my sorrow and my rain.
eyes that whisper something more
than just what's to be seen,
eyes that laugh and sob,
the soul and body's go-between.
if i had the chance to fly,
and leave this world behind;
i'd not think to leave the ground,
your eyes caught in my mind.
