The Woman at the Table
A woman at the table
Children running round and round
Elder sitting quietly
Husband making not a sound
Blink and then behold
The child becomes the woman
Husband becomes elder
Yet time has just begun
I am now the child
In the second generation
But too much has already been lost
In this steady transformation
Then everything shifts again
Time starts making history
And in one blink of an eye
The woman at the table is me
