To Be
To be an autumn leaf,
tumbling from the tree
Where the only battles fought
Are with naught
besides the wind.
To be a gentle breeze,
gliding through the forest
on wings all my own
over every mossy stone
forever free.
To be a pale cloud,
drifting in the sky
unshackled and unbound
floating far above the ground
Unlimited.
To be a blade of grass,
uniformly trite,
one of many in an green sea
of many others, just like me
an entity content.
To be a sturdy stone,
enduring and unknowing
facing every obstacle without fear
Unflinching and sheer
Steady.
But to be human,
singular and alone
fighting constantly
destroying this world endlessly
would have to be simply miserable.
