The Children Whispered Winter
Where the snow is soft
Where the ground is deep
Two children wander
To find their keep
To spread warmth
When the world is frozen
To cast forgiving glances
But what is given?
Melodic phrases
Cast to the wounded with love
We give you our blessing
But your are no white dove
Are you a martyr?
Lend me a moment
And I’ll give you a boon
Take this burden
We shall place it in the womb
Take our possession
A gift of life
Spread it among your people
Let them feel joy
Do you wish to thank?
But he and I are not real people
Spirit, perhaps
But endeared within your souls all along
We changed you
From the life of isolation
But you turned the others
To a life enthralled in beauty
Bless the child
Bless yourselves
Bless us all
On this wretched holiday
