Best Friend
She can hold you tight
I can hold you tighter
But the touch of my arms
Would burn you like a sin
Because what is a best friend
But a best friend and no more?
She’d have let you cry
And my shirt would be soaked
But the tears would sting
Like acid on my skin
For if I couldn’t have you
What’s the use of friendship?
She would stroke your hair
I’d already have my fingers knotted
But the hair would fall
From my fingers like rain
Because these fingers aren’t meant
To be used in that way
She will care for you ‘til she dies
I will love you for the rest of my existence
But you’ll never know, you’ll never know
You’ll never know what I would do
Because what am I but a best friend?
