Hello
‘Hello’ I say
But he says nothing
‘Good day’ I try again
Nothing
Maybe another word?
But ‘Bonjour’ and ‘Hola’
Are met with blank stares
Hollow faces
Perhaps he just isn’t in the mood?
I’ll try again tomorrow
And the next day
The one after that…
And on and on.
Silence is my companion.
It comes to the point
That I decide to give up
Throw in the towel
If I actually had one to throw
Instead, I just look at him
Shake my head
Turn my back
And then,
He speaks
‘Hello’ he says
But the funny thing is?
Now I don’t care
