It Didn't Work

I tried washing away my scars last night…
It didn’t work.
I tried cutting you out of my life by tearing up our photos…
It didn’t work.
I tried loving myself for who I was, not what you wanted me to be…
It didn’t work.
I tried pushing aside the pill bottle to save my own life…
It didn’t work.
The crying, the cutting, and the self-loathing…
None of it worked.
But why lie to myself? The truth is…
I didn’t work.
